When you have an accident within the city limits of Austin and your car is not drivable, the Austin Police will assign a towing service to tow your vehicle. Unless you specify where you want your car or truck taken, it will be towed to the assigned towing service's storage lot, where it will immediately begin to accumulate storage charges. The storage lot also charges a number of other fees such as administrative fees, certification fees, and who-knows-what fees. Once you decide where you want your vehicle repaired, you will incur an additional towing fee to have it towed to the body shop of your choice. By the time we get it, these fees often amount to several hundred dollars.
To avoid these extra fees, ask the towing service to tow your vehicle to Longhorn Collision Center at 1607 South Lamar. If you have your vehicle repaired at our shop, we will not charge you any storage fees while your car is on our lot. Your vehicle will be repaired sooner and you can save hundreds of dollars in unnecessary fees.
If you need a tow and the police are not involved, please call Roundup Towing at (512) 448-4000. Ask them to take you car to Longhorn Collision Center. Again if we do the repairs on your vehicle, we will not charge you any fees to store your car on our lot.
IMPORTANT: If you do not have your vehicle towed to us, be sure to find out where it is being towed and by whom. You would be surprised how often someone calls us to repair their vehicle and they don't know where it is.
